Supporting Youth Employability at St Edmunds Society Careers Event

Supporting Youth Employability at St Edmunds Society Careers Event

As part of our commitment to delivering meaningful social value, we recently took part in the Careers Event at St Edmunds Society, a specialist education provider offering hands-on, practical learning to young people aged 14–19 who face barriers to mainstream education.

The event was designed to connect students with local employers, help them explore different career pathways, and build the skills and confidence needed to take their next steps into the world of work.

Representing Purdy at the event were Glen Soper, Build Operations Manager, and Tony Brown, Operational Supervisor. Together, they provided an overview of careers within the property services and construction sector, shared their personal career journeys, and spoke with students about the range of roles available—whether on-site, in technical trades, or in operational support. Their presence gave young people a chance to ask questions, gain insights into the day-to-day realities of the industry, and better understand the employability skills that employers are looking for.

Participation in this event directly supports our social value objectives around:

  • Improving access to employment and skills opportunities for young people
  • Supporting those not in education, employment or training (NEET)
  • Contributing to local economic resilience by investing in future talent

By actively engaging with local initiatives like the one at St Edmunds Society, we continue to invest in communities and create lasting impact beyond our core services. This aligns with our wider goals around inclusion, opportunity, and sustainable community development.
